A rock dropped in a lake causing ripples

A Worldly View

A worldly view centers on living only for the present, focusing on the here and now without considering eternity. It prioritizes earthly pleasures, personal ambitions, and material gain, often without reverence for God or awareness of eternal consequences. It elevates possessions, status, and self-interest above spiritual growth and surrender.

When we compare this perspective to a biblical worldview, the contrast becomes unmistakable. A biblical worldview reshapes our motives and transforms how we see others. Instead of evaluating people through a worldly lens—based on status, success, or outward appearance—we are called to see them in light of Christ’s sacrifice and the Gospel message. Both believers and nonbelievers are individuals deeply loved by God and in need of His grace.

This requires a profound reorientation of the heart. Rather than allowing culture to shape our attitudes and responses, we pause and choose grace, compassion, and truth. We begin to view every interaction as an opportunity to reflect Christ.

So what does this look like in daily life?

It means taking notice of our thoughts, words, and actions throughout each day. Are they rooted in the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? If not, we may be operating from a worldly mindset rather than a Spirit-led one. If we find ourselves thinking or sharing critical, negative, or depressing thoughts, this is a red flag that will hopefully stop us. Stop and pray to God asking for forgiveness and ask to be filled with His goodness. Let’s help make a difference in the world by being God’s light in all aspects of our lives.

Let us intentionally choose God’s way. The Bible is our operating manual on how to live. Let us walk in the fruit of the Spirit. Imagine the ripple effect if we consistently reflected Christ in our homes, workplaces, churches, and communities. Imagine how others might notice something different—something steady, loving, and hopeful. In those moments, God often opens the door for us to share the hope of the Gospel.

May we live with eternity in mind and hearts anchored in God’s goodness.
